AVPRIDE WORKS

AVPRIDE is recognized as a service provider for Fayette County youth and young adults.

With an estimated 6 million 16-24 year olds in our country not employed or in school, our AVPRIDE WORKS program provides a wide range of FREE services to help navigate our youth between the educational and workforce systems.

OUR GOAL is to assist youth and young adults to:

  • Earn a high school diploma or GED
  • Be prepared to secure gainful employment
  • Benefit from work experiences that align with the most sought-after business and industry fields
  • Create career pathways for themselves
  • Achieve a post-secondary certification, technical certification or degree in career fields of interest

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES must be out of school, between the ages of 16 and 24 and meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Basic skills deficient
  • School dropout
  • A low-income individual seeking employment
  • Homeless, runaway or foster care
  • Pregnant or parenting
  • An individual with a disability
  • An offender

FREE SERVICES:

  • Tutoring, study skills, training
  • Alternative secondary school, (i.e. GED)
  • Post-secondary education and training
  • Labor market and employment information and career services
  • Financial literacy
  • Support services
  • Paid and un-paid work experience
  • Adult mentoring & life skills
  • Workforce readiness and occupational training
  • Occupational skills training
  • Leadership development
  • Guidance and counseling
  • 12 months of follow-up services
  • Financial support for Driver’s Education
