Georgia Red Ribbon Week: Mini-Grant Winners

Georgia Red Ribbon Week: Mini-Grant Winners

AVPRIDE, as a part of its role in the state-sponsored Alcohol Prevention Initiative, wanted to support schools planning Red Ribbon Week activities during October 23-31 with $1000 in mini-grants to supplement current budget constraints. Thanks to the Association of Village PRIDE, Inc. (AVPRIDE), 10 schools have been selected to receive monetary assistance to help fund their programs and activities.

A total of $1,000 in mini-grants was awarded by AVPRIDE as part of its role in the state sponsored Alcohol Prevention Initiative. All schools were invited to apply for a mini-grant by describing their plans for Red Ribbon Week and how they would use the money to supplement the activities. Mini-grants awarded ranged from $50 to $125, depending on the number of students impacted. Schools interested competed through an application for the mini-grants. Ten schools were chosen as recipients and they are:

1. The Alternative Educational Program
2. Fayette County High School
3. Flat Rock Middle School
4. Hood Elementary
5. Huddleston Elementary
6. Mainstay Program at Rivers
7. Sandy Creek High School
8. Spring Hill Elementary School
9. Tyrone Elementary School
10. Whitewater High School

The winners were recognized at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 15th.
